Genital Warts

Genital Warts

Genital warts are benign growths found on or around the genitals.  The can occur on, inside, or around the penis or vagina.  It is a sexually transmitted disease and affects more than 45 million people in the US alone.  Genital warts can affect anyone, no one is immune to it.  It is most commonly transmitted through sexual intercourse from a partner who has already been exposed to the virus.  Of the 100 known strains of HPV over 25 of them are known to cause genital warts.  The only way to prevent being infected with genital warts is to avoid direct contact with someone who has been infected.  85% of all women diagnosed with cervical cancer also have been diagnosed with genital warts.  There is very little out there for genital wart treatment.  This is mainly due to the location, making strong acids and chemicals unsuitable to use. Genital warts are not usually associated with pain so the only treatment is to take precaution is spreading the virus.
